Hi friends,
Peter and Emily here, two White people. We are listening and learning right now. We are thinking about how a platform for art even as small as ours can enable White supremacy and are deciding on how best to use glitterMOB to dismantle systems of oppression going forward. The platform itself is important to us only to the extent that it does this—or to the extent that it can help imagine new systems. Our ambition in the ‘poetry world’ is this and this alone. There is no ladder we wish to climb. There is no brand we wish to protect. If we stray from that goal, call us out. If glitterMOB is not part of the solution, that’s ok too. For the immediate forever, we’re focusing on amplifying Black voices (open call for submissions / let us know if you want to join our team), protesting alongside you, donating, and listening to people who know more than we do, who have felt things we haven’t. Hopefully we didn’t keep your eyes on this, instead of all the work that needs to be done, for too long. In Solidarity, Peter & Emily |
