Last Word
Nobody was around when the dreams finally came true.
when they emerged / were cut out / breach born. Jesus wept over empty nest but it didn’t mean too much to him. seems Lord’s been shedding crocodile tears ever since his tools first went to his cross. * lilies bought tickets for the north where work was a little different if not necessarily easier. petals were white in fields but darkened in factories then faded again in fluorescent office glow and A/C and central heat didn’t do any favors for complexion either. can’t nobody outrun wrinkles forever. stalks stood up straight as long as they could without a clear view of sun sitting in cubicles. * Optimus Prime never made any promises in the dream and Starscream remained second in charge. but the clouds were silver. so silver in fact they were chrome. it was a sky the Borg would like if the collective could ever enjoy anything. * the Holy Ghost turned out to be on the side of the Sith Lord (not having any time for mind tricks instead looked for the force wherever it was). maybe. dreams are fuzzy and hard to interpret. but, nobody was around anyway when the dreams were realized. * an imaginary friend spoke truth to power and was rewarded with a posthumous award for the efforts. * if the dreams weren’t cut out they would’ve broken hips and tore flesh in two would’ve left the womb behind beyond repair but willing to accept the split to think itself its own twin. new and another with dreams free to enter the world. * perhaps it was Eve who thought differently perhaps it was her who put on her best Janus impression and thought twice. maybe she saw the Xenomorphs on the capitol lawn and more in the basilica and told the Klingons not to go into any church but to leave that stuff for Romulans. maybe Mary sat down Freddy Krueger, told him how this cruel world really worked. maybe. who knows? dreams are harder to tell than jokes. ghost stories exist but rarely are they heard from ghosts. yet fairy tales, those yes, those are told by us queers everyday. and when the pansy called off the wedding there wasn’t much else to say. thoughts would suffice on the trip to anywhere. let’s say LA. gonna make it big. star besides CGI on the big screen. put hands in concrete. do interviews. wear the best cuts buy newest bionic upgrades. Tinkerbell is nothing if not up to date and then ahead of the times. * what did St. Paul say to St. Peter before the spaceship took off? maybe we’ll find out in the sequel. * whose choice was it when the dreams finally broke out? when they got big? when they became an overnight success? * Gizmo stole second and is heading home. but watch out cuz Robocop’s got a cannon on him out there in the outfield. and who knew those turtles would be so good at this game? * and the Pope ain’t said shit about the zombie apocalypse. * spores cross borders and sprout up free. black folks catch cabs to get reparations. so many acres so much to do Marxism had to work itself out. * destiny called up the bright side to set a date to get a better look. King David took notes. it was empty. the Hills Have Eyes empty. Children of the Corn empty. Lone Ranger found nearly dead by Tonto empty. Holodeck empty. Danger Room empty. Neverending Story empty. somebodies were nobodies empty when the dreams came true. |
